Everyone Say...

Happy Birthday Grandpa Bill!!!

That's right, today is my Dad's b-day :) I do have to appoligize to him for not getting him what he really wanted for his birthday, but I promise that "it" will be here soon--in about 10 days or so. Sorry Dad, it doesn't look like I will be giving birth today (perhaps I should not wright this, I would hate to jinx myself...), so no granddaughter as a birtday present this year. I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Love,

Keliann

Round Out the Week

Here it is, a little late--but still posted none the less:

How far along: 37 weeks, 6 days

Sleep: A solid 8…though I did wake up at 4:30a.m. on Saturday and could not fall back to sleep. Hummmm.

Best moment this week: Hearing that I am on track for my due date

Movement: She seems to have a hard time getting comfy, but when she does she doesn’t change positions for quite a while.

Food cravings: Nothing rally

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out: Flat? By the end of the day it tends to be more out than in, though I wouldn’t consider it “popped”

What I am looking forward to: Getting to a place where I feel good about leaving work for 12 weeks. Is that possible?

What I miss: Conversation not about me/pregnancy.

Weekly Wisdom: Take belly pictures EARLY on (even when you don’t think you are showing). I wish I had a “before” or Just found out picture to compare things to (and to know where I hope to be back to when all is said and done…).
Random Belly Touches: Nope.

Shout outs to new followers: Hello and CONGRATULATIONS to the new momma Shandell

Baby Brain Moment of the Week: Not being able to remember the directions I was supposed to give to a group of girls…sorry Penny!

Rude Comment of the Week: Nothing outstanding, just the normal "long looks" and head turns.

Accomplishments of the Week: Purchased new outfit for Daddy-to-be, purchased and installed knobs for dresser, started packing hospital bag, got some answers from HR (trust me this is a HUGE accomplishment, though we still have a few unanswered questions...), actively worked on curtains (not done yet :( ), ordered misc. stuff from Amazon registry, washed moses basket stuff, and other little things :) We're getting there!!

What a Difference a Day Makes

Well, by Friday evening I was feeling pretty good! No, I'm not 100% yet, but my sore throat is gone, most of my coughing has subsided and my stuffy/runny nose is to a manageable level. I am so thankful that this summer cold did not stick around for long!

On another note, I started the cutting the curtain last night and hope to get at least 1/2 (if not all) of the sewing done today. I am on a mission to get the nursery "done" in the next two weeks. By done I mean curtain sewn and hung, random items put away, dimmer switch installed and maybe the bumper cover sewn. We'll see if I can get it all done in time without killing myself!

I have been out and about this week searching for some misc. items such as baskets for the living room, something to wear in the hospital (that looks good enough for visitors to see me in, has easy access for nursing, doesn't cost too much and is something I won't get attached to in case it gets ruined) and decorations for the nursery. I would like to say "Thank you" to Michael's for the basket (FINALLY), Marshall's for the CHEAP night gown and robe, and Target for the new knobs for the dresser. MJ and I had talked about getting something different b/c he did not care for the ones that came with the dresser, but I had little hope of finding something we liked that did not cost $7 each. Here is what I found for $4.99 each:

Love them!

Being Pregnant Really Sucks...

...when you are sick!! I am not one to take meds. in the first place, but when you are preggers and CANNOT take something (other than Sudafed or Robitussin--which do not help), being sick REALLY SUCKS!

My throat started to tickle late Saturday night, but I figured it was from all the talking or perhaps just allergies. On Monday, I noticed that I was getting stuffy but chalked that up to pregnancy-land. Then Wednesday night I started to cough a little...uh-oh! Today, well friends my nose is stuffy and runny at the same time (joy) and my throat is SUPER sore from all the phlegm-producing-coughing that I have been doing.

All I have to say is "poor MJ". Why "poor MJ"? I am snoring like an old-man and I'm sure he is not getting much sleep. I offer to sleep on the couch (or perhaps he should sleep there if he does not want to hear me all night long) but being the trooper he is, he just tells me that I am being silly. Bless his heart!

Still Normal

We went to the OBGYN today for another check up!

Doc reports that not much has changed since the last time I was checked, though he would guess me less than the 50% effaced (visual learners can click here for more info) that the midwife guessed. He said that Peanut was still high, around -3 (again, visual learners click here) and that my blood pressure, urine and weight look good too. He sees no reason why I won't make it to my due date. He was rather surprised when I said "As long as we make it to August 6th I'm happy". He said usually by this point women are starting to beg to get the baby out.

Not me, I have to wait until at least the 6th (which is my 1 year mark at Girl Scout and the day that I am eligible for FMLA...Stay in there Peanut, at least until the 6th!!!). I asked if he had a guess as to the size of Peanut and he said that everything looks normal, so right around 8 lbs. when all is said and done.

All in all, life is good!

Round Out the Week

This is SUPER late, I know--but it was a busy weekend. Sorry to those of you who have been wondering were I went--no trips to the hospital just yet...

Here we are at the end of 36 weeks:

Public opinions of whether or not I have dropped seem to vary, so I thought I would post a side-by-side of 36 and 33 weeks:

33 weeks 36 weeks

Looks to me that I am just growing, not dropping...what do you think? Enough of that, here is this/last weeks survey:

How far along: 36 weeks, 6 days

Sleep: Still an 8 :) I have a bladder of Steel!!!!

Best moment this week: Celebrating our 2 year anniversary (sorry Peanut)!

Food cravings: Not really hungry all that often...

Labor Signs: Stronger Braxton Hicks at night and after standing for long periods. Luckily, they go away when I lay down. Perfect excuse for a nap, right?

Belly Button in or out: Still in, though when I am sitting on the couch it starts to pop a little. I'm not sure that I will truly pop...we'll see!

What I am looking forward to: Seeing how excited my parents are going to be to officially become Grandparents!

What I miss: Having clothing options. I am getting pretty sick of my wardrobe at this point, but why go buy anything with 3 weeks left...

Weekly Wisdom: I know that the over-the-belly pants are hideous and unthinkable during the early stages (trust me, I thought I wouldn't have/want to EVER wear them) but don't waste your $ on anything else!!! Even most of my lounge pants/pj pants drive me nuts at this point. Thank you to who ever came up with the nylon-over-the-belly design!!!

Random Belly Touches: No Randoms this week, but my good friend Paul touched for the first time :) fun!

Shout outs to new followers: No one new, so hello to all of my existing followers!!

Baby Brain Moment of the Week: Nothing that I can think of...

New Items:
Rude Comment of the Week: "Just checking for the Turkey timer!" Thanks, I appreciate being compared to a stuffed bird.

Accomplishments of the Week: Ordered the changing table pad, worked on burp cloths, unpacked some of the toys and gifts, made appointments with Pediatricians

The BEST Hubby EVER!!!

WARNING: this is a long one, but definitely worth the read. Please get comfy before proceeding.

I say it to myself all the time, but today you get to read it: I have THE BEST HUSBAND IN WORLD!!!! Now ladies, I know what you are thinking, "Keliann, I have the best husband in the world." Let me tell you why you are wrong ;) First, you did not use all caps to make the statement (so I meant it a little more) Second, Michael (MJ for you new readers) not only remembered that our second anniversary is shortly upon us, but he planned a PERFECT (and yes, I mean PERFECT) just-in-case-you-go-before-August-4th-anniversary-extravaganza for last Friday night. Let me give you the details and you can decide for yourself:

This journey started just over two weeks with an e-vite from MJ titled: Date Night. Needless to say, he was the only other person on the list of invited/attending (Well, Peanut is a give at this point folks!). I accepted with delight and started wondering what we might be doing since he gave no details other than date and time.

As the two weeks went by, I occasionally wondered about the night. Truthfully, I HATE surprises so I didn't want to think about it too much. Perhaps MJ was going to take me to the DSO at Meadowbrook for an evening under the stars, or it was dinner and movie in Birmingham since Harry Potter would be out that weekend. That's all I had.

Fast forward to Thursday night. MJ asked if I was excited about our pending date night and I said "sure". He was a little giddy and asked if I wanted a hint. YES silly, you know I hate to be surprised I thought. MJ then told me that we would start our Date Night by getting massages and then we would come home to get ready for the rest of the evening! I was so excited to get a back rub (and maybe even lay on my belly for a little) that I wanted to pee myself!

So, all day Friday I found it hard to focus on work, but I did manage to get a few projects done--check! I ended my day at 3 o'clock when MJ picked me up and we started our drive to Lapeer for our rubdown. I must say that the massage was to die for! I was a bit sad that they did not have a table with the belly cut out for us pregnant ladies even though they advertise the prenatal massage (soon Keliann, soon...). After our relaxing afternoon rub we drove through Rally's for a little snack...pregnant momma was hungry!

After returning home to shower for the rest of the evening, MJ put me in the can and MADE me ware a blindfold while he drove us to our next stop. All my begging, pleading and promising not to peek did me no good. I had to wear the silly blind fold. MJ knows me all too well. He figured that I was keeping track of our turns and had a small clue as to where we were so he decided to pull into a parking lot, doing a couple of turns before going any further. At that point, I was completely lost. Where in Lake Orion does the road slope down and around like this? Are we going into a tunnel? I started to laugh and MJ played dumb. Silly Michael! MJ continued to play with my sense of direction in order to ensure that I had no idea where we were headed. I found out later that he stopped in the middle of Orion road a few times to pretend that we were at a stop sign. Good work MJ, good work.

So....as we start to slow for the final time, MJ told me to take off my blind fold. WHAT!?!!? WHY ARE WE HERE?!?!?!!!! Ladies and gentlemen...we were at the Wyndgate! For you new followers, this is were we had our wedding and reception! The valet took the can and we walked inside. I was still COMPLETELY confused! We were greeted by Melissa, the fabulous event planner who took care of us two years ago. I gave her a hug and asked her what was going on. She did not say much, but lead us to one of the reception rooms. Perhaps we are here for dinner, but I though only members could come for dinner... we walked through one of the white rooms that I wanted for our reception and into the next room. This was the room with the hardwood floors where the head table and dance floor would have been. In the center of the room was a table for two. The best part was that MJ had it decorated just like our wedding: brown table cloth, green napkins, white hydrangeas with green button flowers and candles to top it all off! As soon as I realized what he had planned I started to cry!!

I hugged MJ, then wiped the tears from my cheeks. He pulled out my chair and up came the server with sparkling white grape juice--not quite champagne but oh-so-close!!! MJ raised his glass and made a toast to us and joy that the last two years had brought us. As the night went on we enjoyed the same menu from our wedding day, which was just as delicious as it was then! To top off the meal, MJ even remembered to get a mini-cake (decorated just the same) and two bumpy-cupcakes from Sweet and Savory(yes that is our cake)!! YUM, YUM, YUM!!!

We finished up our meal at the Wyndgate and headed home to change and go to Harry Potter!!! This was the one thing that I wanted to do before Peanut got here and MJ made that happen!

I can't believe that MJ pulled together such a THOUGHTFUL, DETAILED and WONDERFUL night for the two of us to enjoy together (as a couple and not as parents)! So ladies, this is why I say that I have the BEST husband EVER!

p.s. Michael, I love you so much! You never cease to amaze me--the way you pay attention to the details of our life, the way you say I love you through your actions as well as your words, the way you always manage to think of us and MAKE us take time to enjoy the little moments life gives us!!! Happy Two Years!!

Round Out the Week

Well, here we are at the end of 35 weeks...less than a month to go!!!!!! Take a peek and enjoy the update :)

How far along: 35 weeks, 6 days
Sleep: Back to 8 :)
Best moment this week: Finishing the crib skirt!!

Movement: Slowing down a bit, but she has been kicking the top part of my belly!

Food cravings: Chocolate pudding

Labor Signs: Nothing new :) I plan on keeping it this way for 4 more weeks. Keep your fingers crossed too!

Belly Button in or out: Still in

What I am looking forward to: Holding Peanut for the first time!

What I miss: My shoe collection…hope it still fits when all is said and done.

Weekly Wisdom: To all you non-pregnant and newly pregnant women: lay on your belly as much as possible now because right about 30 weeks you WILL miss it even if you never lay on your belly. Promise!
Random Belly Touches: I must be giving off the don’t touch vibe, two weeks in a row touch free.

Shout outs to new followers: Hello Dana, thanks for checking us out. Enjoy!

Baby Brain Moment of the Week: It is getting hard to pronounce words correctly. It seems like I am putting the wrong letter first or smushing two together all the time.

So Excited!!

MJ always manages to give the BEST gifts!!

I came home last night to find a special package wrapped in brown paper in the swing. I ask "what is this?" only to get a shrug of the shoulders from MJ. So, I sat down to open it, a little confused as to what it might be. As I tore the paper away I tried to figure out what it might be...I couldn't think of a single thing. As the soft, green contents were reveled I slowly realized what it was: A diaper bag!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, this in not just any diaper bag...it is a FABULOUS, hand crafted, one-of-a-kind bag by Kelli and Kristi's cousin Lauren Talicska!

Let me give you the back story on this: Kristi got a blue one at her shower and I fell in love! I wanted one of my very own! I had been looking at bags and hadn't found a single one I liked (most of them look too much like something an 8 year old would take to school or boring and stuffy, no fun!). But this was the perfect size and full of fun colors and fabric. I asked Lauren if she took orders and Kelli said that I couldn't order one because maybe one was already on order for me. We laughed, I touched Kristi's bag (wanting to smuggle it out of the shower and play dumb when Kristi realized it was gone.). That day I came home and told MJ all about the bag and how I hoped I might get one to call my own.

Time passes, my shower comes, I got WONDERFUL gifts. The Talicska family gave us the highchair (among other items) that could only be bought on line (which I thought for sure we were not going to get because of the fact) and we are VERY grateful for the wonderful purchase (we will think of you every time we feed Peanut in the highchair).

MJ and I were at Babies'R Us a few days later and I realized that I still needed a diaper bag. I thought to myself Shoot, I was hoping to get a bag like Kristi's, I loved it so much. "Guess, I should look for a diaper bag while we're here (a small, selfish part of me was sad when I realized I would not have a fabulous diaper bag. Bad Keliann, bad)." MJ picked up on my tone and asked what was wrong. I told him again about the bag I wanted as I looked at what they had to offer. Nothing I liked.

Fast forward to yesterday. Emily and I met up in Canton to do a little shopping. We were in BuyBuy Baby and I stopped by the diaper bags to see what they had. Again, nothing. I told Emily of the bag and my selfish disappointment (bad Keliann, bad). "Oh well, I'll find something" I told her.

So, here I am opening this mysterious package at 10 o'clock at night, realizing that I have the BEST husband EVER! He never ceased to amaze with what he picks up on and how he manages to surprise me with thoughtful gifts. I am happy to report that I LOVE my diaper bag! It is every thing I hoped it would be! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Here it is:

One Down, Two to Go!

I just finished the crib skirt!!!! That make one nursery item done and two more to go: the curtains and the bumper (but the mattress is too high right now for the bumper, so I could cheat and not finish the bumper until we lower it a notch...really, I plan to finish it before Peanut gets here). Well, I'm off to start on the curtains, wish me luck!

Weekly Visits

Here we go!! We are down to T minus 5 weeks, which means going to the doctor EVERY WEEK!! You may realize from earlier posts that my doc. office is not really one for on-time visits, so needless to say I have not been looking forward to this. But much to our surprise, it was only a 20 minute wait in the waiting room! Yes folks, I was out of there in JUST under 1 hour! I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

We met with the Mid-wife today. She is a fun lady :) We discussed fun things like getting the car seat ready, night time routine/feedings, etc. Warning: possible T.M.I in 3, 2, 1....

I had the "pleasure" of my first cervix check, to which she said "now is a good time to practice breathing and relaxing cause this may feel like I am reaching for your tonsils". It was not as bad as she made me think. Indicator of how labor will go, I'm not holding my breath! She said that the baby is starting to drop and but my cervix is still closed.

I asked how we looked as far as the E.D.D. (expected delivery date for you non-preggers). She said to plan for the due date, but then that is what she tells all her first timers.

All I have to say at this point is: HA!! ALL YOU NAY-SAYERS WHO KEEP SAYING "YOU'RE HUGE, THERE IS NO WAY YOU WILL MAKE IT TO YOUR DUE DATE", THE MIDWIFE ISN'T RULING IT OUT YET!!! Sorry, had to get that off my chest!

All in all, it was a good visit. Now I am off to get some more sewing done :)
