Happy Halloween

Fall is here and so is Halloween! Abby had a great time showing off her wardrobe this week, take a look:

Sunday afternoon we headed to a pumpkin patch to pick up some pumpkins to carve. Unfortunately, they only had very small and very large pumpkins left. We'll try elsewhere, but we did get some great pictures:

Tuesday, we enjoyed the warm weather and took some pictures on the front porch. We're glad that Daddy picked up some mums, they made a great back drop :)
Wednesday:
Just chilling on the couch on this rainy afternoon. Abby loved the tiny pumpkin and her legwarmers!

Friday:
Play time! We had fun talking to out toys and each other:

Saturday:
Happy 1st Halloween
Here is our family photo
In the car seat before we head to Gramps and Grandma D's house.
LOVE the hat!
Trick-or-Treat!
This was Abby's fist ever "trick-or-treat"
Abby was their 1st trick-or-treater of the night too.
Here is the little monkey!
Next we headed to Paul and Aimee's house. Daddy passed out candy with Paul while the ladies hung out inside. Here is Abby at the end of the night. She was pretty tired and ready for bed.
All in all we had a great week and a super Halloween. Hope you did too!

I Cried Too

Today we went for Abby's 2 month well-baby check up---a.k.a. shot fest.

First the good stuff: She is growing like a weed! She is 10 lbs 10 oz (50%) 23 inches tall (65-70%) and head is 40 cm round (75%--I like to think this means she will be SUPER smart). All is good.

Abby was in a bit of a mood since she was due for a nap. She decided to show the Doc. just how strong her lungs are when he shined the light into her eyes, ears and nose. The funny thing is that in the last 2 days she has added this new, high-pitched scream to her repertoire and she decided to show it off. Luckily, we have a great Doc. who just laughed and told me that they usually get the attitude from their mother. Oh, if he only knew just how true that is :)

Then came the needles :( Distracting Abby while she was being poked was the saddest, hardest thing I have yet had to do as a mother. Seeing her freeze in pain then slowly melt into a painful scream made me cry. Never have I hated a shot so much, never. Sorry Abby. I just have to remind myself that we do it to avoid long-term pain and discomfort and/or worse... In the end, she did pretty well. We came home and took a nap together, then played for a little before she went to bed at 7. She has been sound a sleep since then; I'm pretty sure she is sleeping off the day :)
Here is a pic that Grandma D took on Sunday, enjoy:

Two Months

Happy Two Months Abby!

It is truly amazing how fast time goes! I can't believe that just two months ago today our life as parents began--sometimes it seems like Abby was born just yesterday and other times it seems like she has always been a part of our life. We are still learning the ins and outs of being Mommy and Daddy but are taking time to enjoy the little things.

Here is a little video of Abby telling stories, enjoy!

Nine Hours

Ladies and Gentlemen---My daughter is the best night sleeper EVER! Last night she slept for NINE hours straight (well, she started squeaking at her usual 1:30 feeding time so I hit the snooze button--aka plugged the paci. back in--and we didn't hear from her again until 4:30)!! I am truly the luckiest Mom!

Now, if only Abby would consistently take good naps...we have been working on this issue a little bit this past week. She took a 2.5 hr., late afternoon nap two days in a row this past week, which was great. I hope to make it an everyday occurrence, wish me luck ;)

Fun in Philly

This past weekend we took our first vacation as a family. We headed over to Philly for a family wedding and decided to spend an extra day there in order to see some sights. I must admit that I was a little nervous about this trip since it was the first time we would be traveling with Abby in tow. I must say that she did a fabulous job all weekend long! She was a trooper :) She slept the entire flight down and 80% of the flight home, saw all the sights with us from the comfort of her stroller and slept like a champ in the travel bed that Kristi let us borrow (thanks Kristi, you were a life saver this weekend!!) My mom came up from Virginia Beach to meet and watch Abby while we were at the wedding--I think my mom had the most fun out of all of us getting to know her grandchild. It was cool to watch them bond. Here are a few photos from our trip:

Packing

We are headed to Philly this weekend for Jason Tiefenback's wedding. We are excited about taking our first family vacation and about attending the wedding. So, today is a busy day around here as we pack for the big trip. It is amazing just how much stuff a baby requires for just 4 days! Hope we don't forget anything...

I think Daddy is going to have to give up some room in his suitcase in order to fit all of Abby's stuff :) Sorry Daddy, Mommy needs to take 3 pair of shoes, hair and make-up tools, clothing options, etc. Daddies are less maintenance and therefore require less luggage space. Get used to it, you are living with 2 girls now!!

I will be sure to post lots of pics on Tuesday! Have a great weekend everyone :)
