Pure Joy

Here is the show I had the pleasure of watching while getting lunch ready today. Keep in mind that it took me almost a full minute to realize what was going on and that my phone was handy to record the event:

Happy 2nd Bday Abigail!

I just can't believe that Abby is two already! The time is just flying by.

We started Abby's Birthday Extravaganza with some Burger King breakfast. She loves their eggs, can devour their pancakes and enjoys dipping the hash-browns in catsup. Not really the healthiest meal, but hey, you only turn two once!

After breakfast it was time for a LONG overdue bath, the first since getting her cast off! Yeah!! Then we packed up and headed to the zoo for lunch and some fun.

We had a GREAT time and I think Abby did too ;)

Then it was off to dinner with some good friends.....

Then then back home for some cake

and Ice Cream!!!

Pee-pee Fun!

Emily sent us home with a potty chair and Abby is putting it to use already...

And she successfully put some pee-pee in the potty!! I'm not sure what she enjoyed more, the success of her efforts or the treat that followed. But the fun ended after the M&M was gone and her happy dance got away from her and landed her hand in the potty!! She was grossed out, as was mom!

And the potty fun begins!

Story Time

Bed time has been rough for Mommy and Abby for a few months now--anytime I am in her room she REFUSES to go to sleep because she knows I will leave. So, MJ has been in charge of bedtime duties. But Abby has slowly found her way to our bed each night, or should I say morning as in 4 am, warm and snug as a bug! But this morning I decided enough is enough. And the fight begins...

I spent about 25 minutes in her room, fighting to keep her in bed and trying to get her to lie down. About the third round of crazy screams MJ tagged himself in. And stayed in there for the rest of the morning after two failed escapes.

Guess we "won" on keeping her in her own bed ;)

So tonight I went in to start the process...determined to get her over her issue of mommy putting her to bed. As we were reading our goodnight book that we have not read in a few months b/c I don't put her to bed she would finish the sentence when I paused: "find pajamas big and...." "small" replied Abby. "And when the moon is on the rise they all go up...." "to exercise!!" said Abby. "the day is done they say "goodnight" and somebody turns off the..." "light!" she peeps in. I just can't believe that she remembers all of that! It is crazy just how much of a sponge she was even all those months ago.

Moral of the story to other parents....careful, they ARE watching!

Not Yet

I refuse to believe that my little Peanut will be two next week...it just can't be true! I don't think MJ understands my denial, but I think all the other mothers out there just might. Can I get an Amen???

Nothing to Report

We tried a few doctors today and everyone wanted to wait until Monday or so to see her. They said that they wanted to wait for the swelling to go down before doing anything. At that point I was feeling a bit defeated and concerned but then Michael came to the rescue with a recommendation from our friend Mary!! We called Dr. Jones and we have an appointment for 8:30 tomorrow.

But all in all, Abby had a good day. She got mad at the splint three times and tried to take it off. It took a little finessing, but in the end we got her to keep it on. It is amazing what a sucker or M&M can do!

Visit to Urgent Care

On my way home from work MJ told me that Abby fell off the bed today while playing with Gracie but she seemed to be ok other than wanting to snuggle a little more than usual. Since Abby has been teething again that didn't surprise either one of us.

As the day went on Abby kept telling Daddy that she fell off the bed but when he asked if she hurt she would say no. Her obsession with falling was not out of place either since all last week when asked how she got the boo-boo on her knee she would respond "Momma pushed me" (for the record I did not push her, she tripped over the hose as I moved it). The girl has a great memory and loves to share!

When I got home from the grocery store (with a few goodies for Abby in tow) MJ asked if her wrist looked swollen. I couldn't be positive but I did notice that she wasn't using her right hand much. MJ said she had been using it to hold her cup earlier but I couldn't get her to pick up her spoon or hold her Jello cup with it. After some debate we decided to hit the Urgent Care...

On our way with Peanut and Ellie too. Abby didn't want to go--she kept saying "no doctor M Mommy, no".

Once we got there We passed our time by snacking on cookies and Goldfish

And singing our ABC song

Other than not wanting to use her hand I really debated if she was hurt or not.

Abby was a trooper during the X-rays. She cried but stayed still for the most part. The bright light seemed to scare her the most.

Shortly after the x-ray the dr. came to give us the results. Poor Abby broke her forearm and needs a splint until we can get into see the orthopedic dr sometime tomorrow! The nice nurse gave her an orange lollypop while the worked on the splint. Abby really enjoyed that. I think the worse part was having to sit still until it dried!

So her we are, snuggled up in bed. Abby is sleeping, Mommy is blogging and Daddy is looking for a teaching job. I can't say that I enjoyed tonight but I can say that I am thankful that we are nursing a simple broken arm. I talked to Stacey tonight who told me I'm taking this well. Honestly all I keep thinking is thank God it wasn't a horrible car accident or cancer or not knowing what is wrong.

To all you moms out there dealing with something more, I wish you peace and good health!!!
